At the end of this presentation, participants will be able to:
List benefits and potential risks of exercise for women with diabetes during pregnancy
Discuss maternal and fetal response to exercise
State the contraindications to exercise during pregnancy
Describe guidelines for exercise during the antepartum and postpartum periods
Identify blood glucose value and carbohydrate needs for physical activity
Review types and appropriateness of bedrest physical activity
Appreciate certain challenges that can effect new mothers post-delivery and making time for exercise
