At the end of this presentation, participants will be able to:
Differentiate between the medical management of Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes during the First, Second, Third and Fourth Trimesters
Review screening and identification mechanisms of fetal anomalies
Learn when hospitalization is indicated for glucose control
Identify infections and describe treatment of DKA during pregnancy
Recall special considerations for preterm labor and pre-eclampsia
Understand ideal timing of delivery and decreasing birth trauma
Assess labor considerations and glycemic control in labor for the diabetic patient
Optimize transitions back to the original health care team
